Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, the popularity of ‘staycation’ holidays was at an all-time high, with many people ditching plans for a holiday abroad in favour of staying in the UK instead.
However, with many feeling uneasy about travelling abroad even as restrictions start to lift, demand for breaks closer to home has soared.
The 2020 Travel Survey, conducted by Michael Paul Holidays, heard how the pandemic had impacted the plans of British holidaymakers and found out what kind of holidays they were planning next.
From July 2020, most British holidaymakers (85%) said they were planning a UK getaway, with the majority of those (44%) booking a caravan holiday in a coastal area (73%).
This staycation ‘boom’ has led to an increase in the number of British holiday park owners who are now looking to sell their asset and likewise a a surge of interest from people wanting to buy.
